Our Story

How it all started...

In 1933 Westside COGIC later known as the Greater Westside COGIC was organized by Pastor W.L. Pirtle and Mother Blanche Pirtle in their living room of their home. The Westside Church would be led by many of our city’s churchman and progressive voices. In 2017 the interim Pastor, Bishop Sedgwick Daniels appointed Pastor Benjamin Robinson. The son of Pastor Herbert and Mother Janet Robinson.

In 1988 the vision of Good Samaritan COGIC came into fruition in the living room of the Robinson household. Securing a storefront location in December of 1988, Pastor Herbert and Mother Janet Robinson began transforming lives and their community under the moto of: This is the church where everybody is somebody and the Holy Ghost is the boss. As the church outgrew its location, the Lord made room for the ministry and blessed them with a cathedral where worship continues.

After the untimely transition of Superintendent Herbert Robinson, Pastor Ben Robinson seamlessly continued the vision of the Good Samaritan Church in 2021.  In November of 2021 both ministries united and voted to merge under the leadership of Pastor Ben and Lady Keyona Robinson. They become Good Samaritan Westside Community Church where we are: Building People, Building Ministry and Building Kingdom.
